St. Mark was the writer of the second Gospel. He lived in Jerusalem and some traditions say that Our Lord's Last Supper was held in the home of Mark's parents. After the Ascension of Jesus, Mark went on several missionary trips and later went to Rome to be a help mate to St. Peter. It is St. Peter's teachings which Mark penned. He is often shown with the symbol of a lion.
